About Rotate video
Most sideways videos are not really sideways: the picture is stored one way and a flag tells the player to turn it. Setting that flag is instant and loses nothing, and every normal player honours it. If an app ignores the flag - some editors and older players do - re-encode instead, which turns the pixels themselves. Mirroring always needs re-encoding.
