About Extract Images from PDF
JPEGs are copied out byte for byte - no re-encoding, no quality loss. Pictures stored as raw pixels are decoded and written as lossless PNG, keeping their transparency.
A few kinds cannot be exported this way: fax-style CCITT and JBIG2 scans and some unusual colour spaces. Those are counted and reported instead of being exported wrongly; PDF to Images can capture those pages as pictures.
