Local etiquette

Ramadan affects some restaurants and nightlife, so check dates before you travel.

Getting around

Long-distance travel (KL to Cameron Highlands, Penang) is easier and not much more expensive by bus than train. Domestic flights on AirAsia or Malindo are affordable when distances are long (Kuala Lumpur to Kuching is about 1,500 km).
